Research and Reading

Reading times
Class Book: 3 hours, 30 minutes, 45 minutes
detailed outline: 2 hours

It was difficult for me to find a topic I enjoyed. But Mrs. Harper suggested foot binding and Geisha to me. I knew more about Geisha because my mom lived in Japan so she has dolls from her childhood she handed down to me when I was younger. I figured it could be a cool topic to research on. It is exciting learning more about the little dolls I played with when I was younger but it is very difficult finding information on my topic. The life these women live is completely by choice. It is a long road to becoming a Geisha.

For my National History Day Topic I have decided to study the topic of Geisha Women. While researching I have learned new information about Geisha. It is a hidden world that these women decide to become apart of. These girls go through months of training to become a Maiko and once they have been that for 5 years then determines whether or not you have become a Geisha. This world that they become apart of is quit secretive and serious about following rules. Geisha have many responsibilities and rules that if broken could ruin there training.
