Poem- Christmas Coal Time

My favorite time is Christmas time
with all the yummy cookies and warm hot chocolate,
A big Christmas tree with decorative ornaments,
whats your favorite time,
It has to be Christmas time.
What little kid doesn't love a sweet surprise
not only from santa, but reindeer too.
With the crackle of the fire
hopefully santa will check the chimney before coming down.
We don't need a burned bum on Christmas Eve.
Maybe I should sneak out for some water
and take a peak under the Christmas tree.
Santa must have left good gifts
I wasn't that mean.

Oh no!
He cant have left me coal
I promise I wasn't mean.

Well Christmas time is still my favorite time.

In my poem I made sure to cover the 3 topics I was most confused on. One of them being the A, B, C's that go on the side of each line. I know that its the last word that must rhyme but I seem to always get one wrong. I also tried to use a raucous word but dont thing that worked out (crackle). Another was enjambment which I think i used it in the right spots but for some reason I am never sure.

  1. Nice poem, Emma. I think your use of enjambment was good! I really liked this poem and my favorite time is Christmas time, too.
